It was time to pack up and get going this morning. But not without a ride in the lady's Wrangler TJ, which is built up for the trails and has a very different ride compared to my longer-wheelbase jeep. You could feel it turning very tightly, almost like the rear end swings out behind you in the turns. We rode on a small, short, but very interesting trail set up through trees and very uneven terrain. She showed me what a stock transmission and motor could do in 4-hi and 4-lo. It's very nice to know that my jeep can do this, even though it doesn't have the same clearance and suspension articulation as her jeep does with bigger tires and built up suspension. I have no photos to share of this morning, as they have asked for privacy, which I respect.
Unfortunately, I had to get going, as I had a long day ahead of me to cross KY and get to Cincinnati before dark if possible so I could eat with my cousins Dawn and Ron and their two boys.
I took off, and I found out that my cruise control doesn't work now, nor does my AC blow air through the right vents. I would need to get that checked out. I contacted my jeeper friends to find out what would be going on. I had to keep going to get to Cincinnati before dark. I was hoping to keep cruising along in an easy way, but I had to constantly watch my speed. Maybe I could find a Jeep dealer to see about replacing that battery terminal.
Onward to Cincinnati I went with my AC blowing through the defroster vents, which were drying my eyes out. I drove all day, driving east on I-40 and turning up on I-65 in Nashville before going through Louisville on the way to Cincinnati. I stopped on the way to eat and get gas. I finally ran into rain south of Cincinnati. It was the first time I had driven in the rain since getting the jeep! It was nice knowing I could put it into 4-hi whenever I need it, which I did to learn how it handles. It didn't seem any different than 2-hi. It was raining pretty good, but the wiper blades need to be replaced. They were jumping across the windshield! I finally got to my cousin Dawn's around 7 PM. The driveway up beside the house is very steep, and it was wet, so I put it in 4-lo for the first time to climb it. As I went up, I honked to let them know I was here. That was fun!
I spent the evening there, having dinner and getting to know Dawn's family before getting to bed.
